Tanzania : camps and lodges in Tarangire national park
Tarangire National Park is a national park in Tanzania’s Manyara Region. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River that crosses the park.During the dry season thousands of animals concentrate in Tarangire National Park from the surrounding wet-season dispersal and calving areas.It covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometers (1,100 square miles.) The landscape is composed of granitic ridges, river valley, and swamps. Vegetation is a mix of Acacia woodland, Combretum woodland, seasonally flooded grassland, and baobab trees.Tarangire National Park can be reached via paved road south from Arusha in under two hours. Lake Manyara National Park is a 70 kilometer (43 mile) drive from Tarangire.The park is famous for its high density of elephants and baobab trees. Visitors to the park in the June to November dry season can expect to see large herds of thousands of zebra, wildebeest and cape buffalo. Other common resident animals include waterbuck, giraffe, dik dik, impala, eland, Grant’s gazelle, vervet monkey, banded mongoose, and olive baboon. Predators in Tarangire include lion, leopard, cheetah, caracal, honey badger, and African wild dog.
Sangaiwe Tented Lodge
Located near the new Sangaiwe gate to Tarangire National Park with stunning views over Lake Burunge, Sangaiwe Tented Lodge offers travellers to Tanzania luxury tented accommodation, great service and fresh food .Accommodation is in beautifully constructed tented rooms set on wooden platforms with a solid attached bath, toilet and dressing area. Presently there are thirteen (13) tents. Each elevated tent has twin or double beds, a writing desk, ample places for luggage and indoor and outdoor seating. Decks all have stunning views to Lake Burunge and the Rift Valley.
Additionally there is are two-bedroom family cottages with one twin room and a double room, both en-suite and joined by a common sitting area. Each room has it’s own veranda.

Mbali mbali tarangire river camp
The Camp is located just outside Tarangire Natioanal Park .Equiped with 21 spacious tents that are raised on wooden platforms .Each has a verandah with day bed that peers over the water; you’ll love watching the elephants taking a drink as sunset starts to paint the sky.The Camp is open all year round except for April .Facilities include outdoor pool ;restaurant and free parking .Also the tents are fitted with flush toilets .
Burunge Tented Lodge
The Lodge is located 10 minutes from the entrance to the park known as Sangaiwe.There are 20 tents built on wide wood platforms and 10 bungalow. Double rooms with a double bed, with two and three beds. They have a private bathroom, private terrace. They also have solar electricity 24 hrs.Each tent it’s built over a wood platform with a terrace where the guests can enjoy the views of Lake Burunge, Tarangire National Park and on clear days Mt. Meru.The Lodge is open all year .Facilities include WIFI ;outdoor swimming pool ;mobile phone coverage and credit card payment .
Tarangire Simba Lodge
The Lodge is located near the new Sangaiwe Gate of Tarangire National Park.The lodge opened in mid 2015 (July) and has sixteen classic tents under thatch. Resident wildlife includes lion, zebra, bushbuck, impala, porcupine, monkeys, warthog, mongoose and more. Elephant, buffalo, ostrich and giraffe frequently pass through .i-Fi is available in the common area at no charge. In addition to a large swimming pool there is a ‘tree-top’ viewing platform built in a stately acacia tree to facilitate wildlife watching and star gazing.
tarangire safari lodge
The Lodge is situated 10km inside the main gate of Tarangire National Park. It’s position on the escarpment ridge gives it impressive views over the baobab and acacia woodlands down to the Tarangire River .The main areas at Tarangire Safari Lodge are characterised by rather imposing thatched roofs, which house a central lounge/bar area where chunky wooden chairs and coffee tables.A stone veranda wraps around this central area and has truly stunning views.The ‘rooms’ at Tarangire Safari Lodge consist of 35 tents and five bungalows .WIFI and Swimming Pool also available .
maramboi tented camp
Sitting on the shores of Lake Manyara, Maramboi is a large permanent tented camp offering game drives in both Manyara National Park and Tarangire. Comprises of 32 standard tents, 8 suites and 2 units with 2 interconnected rooms .At the centre of the camp are the main mess area and swimming pool as well as a library and lounge .The area is a birders paradise in the rainy season but really comes to life from July to October as animals migrate past the camp to the permanent water sources of the lake and Tarangire’s swamps .An outdoor pool available .
